Overview

Sentinel Mara Safari Camp is situated in a prime area of the Masai Mara National Reserve.  The Musiara Marsh area renowned for its outstanding game viewing is where both the BBC "Big Cat Diaries" and Disney's "African Cats" were filmed.  You are assured of an excellent game-viewing experience.  During the annual migration, various crossing points are easily accessible from Sentinel.​

The camp is set up along the Mara River with wonderful bird life and the private and natural setting ensures that guests have a most enjoyable and authentic bush experience. Being on high banks above the Mara River means that there are always hippos and crocodiles in the river below to be seen with other animals coming to drink,
or cross the river at times.

Itinerary

1st DAY NAIROBI -MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE.

  • Upon arrival at  a central location within Nairobi, there will be meet and greet by one of Kwezi Safaris representative. You shall be briefed about does and dont's in in Maasai Mara National Reserves and later  depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve. In transit you shall enjoy the scenic view of the Great Rift Valley. • 1200hrs Expected arrival time Maasai Mara National Reserve where you shall check in for lunch. At 1600hrs you shall check out of the lodge for evening game drive where you might spot wild animals such as; Topis on a watch tower on a Cray ant hill, Heartbeest, Thomson gazelles, Warthogs, Baboons, Lions, Hyenas among others not forgetting bird species such as Bateleur eagle, Maasai ostrich among other bird species. At 1800hrs you shall be transferred back to the lodge for accommodation and dinner.

2nd DAY MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

  • Breakfast shall be  served at 0625hrs and later check out for an early game drive. Experience the famous Mara River that borders Maasai Mara (Kenya) and Serengeti (Tanzania) to witness the crossing of the wildebeest accompanied by plain zebras. At the banks of the river you might spot lions eagerly waiting to agonize the wildebeest or a zebra to it day’s meal. During the crossing some of the wildebeest together with plain zebras are drawn by the river flood and others feasted on by the Nile crocodiles harbored in the river.
  • 1230HRS - Transfer back to the camp  for lunch.
  • 1600HRS - Evening game drive where you might spot wild animals such as; Lions, Leopards, Cheetah, Elephants, Buffaloes, Maasai giraffe, Spotted Hyenas, Dwarf mongoose, Hippos in the pool, Baboons, Impalas, Topis among others. Bird species that you might encounter include; Oxypecker, Marabustock, Martial eagle, Woodpecker, Grebes, Hornbills, Wagtails, tropical boubou among others.
  • 1800HRS - Transfer back to the lodge for accommodation and dinner.

 

3rd DAY MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE ( OPTIONAL HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE)

  • At an early morning before breakfast, you shall be transferred to hot air  balloon boarding point and have  an aerial view of Maasai mara national reserve ecosystem  where you might have a chance to spot the wild animals within the park, migratory patterns of wildebeest and different topography. This one can be arranged at an advance and additional coast(450 USD PER PERSON).
  • Later after landing you shall be served with a champagne breakfast and kick off to a  land game drive where you might  spot wild animals such as; Elephants, buffaloes, cape hares, impalas, eland, the Famous tano bora Cheetah of Mara among others as you check out at the migration site.
  • 1230HRS - Transfer back to the lodge for lunch.
  • 1600hrs you shall check out of the lodge for evening game drive where you might spot wild animals such as; bushbucks,heartebeest,hyenas,Maasai giraffe among others. Plant species found in Maasai Mara ecosystem include; scattered acacia, red oat savannah grass among other.
  • 1800HRS - Transfer back to the lodge for accommodation and dinner.

4th  & 5th DAY MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE MANYATA VISIT.

  • Breakfast shall served at 0625HRS and thereafter depart for an early morning game drive where you might spot the predators such as; lions,leopards,cheetah,wildogs among others hunting before the days temperature rise. You might also spot scavengers such as hyenas and vultures clearing a carcass. At mid-morning you shall be transferred to a Maasai Manyatta and have a taste of their culture this includes participation dances, milk mixed with blood, making of fire from hardwood and soft wood. You shall also have a chance to buy their art crafts. .
  • 1230HRS - Transfer back to the camp for lunch.
  • 1600HRS - Check out of the lodge for evening game drive where you might spot wild animals such as; Baffaloes,elephants,impalas,topi,elands among others quenching their thirst at river or natural water pads. You shall also have a chance to Visit Mara River where you might spot colonies of hippos and crocodiles.
  • 1800hrs you shall be transferred back to the lodge for accommodation and dinner.

6th DAY  MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE -NAIROBI

  • 0625HRS - Early morning breakfast and check out of the lodge with packed lunch boxes and embark on last game drive to Mara River to capture the fine photos of the magnificent migration. You will spot the wildebeest breaking its limbs as it tries to jump over the strong jawed crocodiles and others moan helpless on the jaws of lions. As you check out of the migration site you may also spot wild animals such as: , Cheetah, Elephants, Buffaloes, Maasai giraffe, Spotted Hyenas, Dwarf mongoose, Hippos in the pool, Baboons, Impalas, Topis among others. Bird species that you might encounter include; Oxypecker, Marabustock, Martial eagle, Woodpecker, Grebes, Hornbills, Wagtails, tropical boubou among others.
  • You shall check out of the park at late afternoon and have a stopover at Mai Mahiu rift valley view point as you transit to Nairobi arriving at an early evening be transferred to the airport for your international flight departure.
