Join us as we embark on a Safari in Africa, exploring top wildlife encounters and scenic landscapes in Kenya. A drive through the Great Rift Valley lets you feast your eyes on stunning sights from the viewpoints on your safari.
Meet the iconic tribesmen of Samburu and Maasai, get to learn and experience their way of life and understand crucial ecosystems in areas they call home. These regions play host to arguably the best wildlife destination in Africa, the Maasai Mara and Samburu National Reserve. Home to the iconic African Big Five, Maasai Mara always tops the list of must-go-to destinations in Africa. Meanwhile, the conservation efforts in Samburu have increased the elephant population, rivalling some of the best wildlife parks in Africa.
Another delight of this Safari in Africa is the beautiful Rift Valley Lakes. Lake Bogoria plays host to swarms of bright pink flamingos. Steamy hot springs dot the surrounding areas together with numerous bubbling geysers along the banks and from within the lake itself. Lake Naivasha is a lovely interlude during your safari, offering you a relaxing break in between your safari with a calm and pleasant boat ride experience.
Our Safari in Africa is filled with wildlife adventures and thrilling encounters making for an epic Kenya safari.
Day 1 and 2: Journey to Samburu National Reserve
Highlights | Samburu Special Five, Elephants, Untouched Wilderness
Your safari starts in the wilderness of Samburu.
In Kenya’s more arid northern region, Samburu offers a different wildlife experience to the more familiar destinations in East Africa such as the Masai Mara and Serengeti. Samburu is a land of elephants and lions but also the long-necked gerenuk and rapier-horned Beisa oryx. Look out for species here not seen further South such as Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich and gerenuk, an unusual antelope that can reach up the trees on its hind legs.
You're in for a treat when you visit Samburu National Reserve with us. Expect glorious scenery, four of the Big Five (no rhino), hyenas, giraffes, hippos and zebras. Samburu highlights include some prized northern specialities, such as Somali ostrich, gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx and reticulated giraffe. And bring your binoculars: almost 400 bird species have been seen within the reserve's boundaries
Day 3: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to the Big Five & White Rhino Haven
Your day will be filled with excellent game viewing in the conservancy (keep an eye out for the Big 5 – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo). Be sure to take advantage of all the unique activities between game drives. Drop by the chimpanzee sanctuary to say “Hi” to the rescued primates, and participate in an optional lion tracking excursion and horse ride through the wild or with rhinos. You cannot miss an opportunity to visit the Endangered Species Boma to see the world’s last two remaining Northern white rhinos; you’ll also get the chance to hand-feed Baraka, a blind black rhino!
Day 4: Safari to the rhino haven & home to pink Flamingos in Lake Nakuru
Embark on an early morning game drive, then head back to the lodge for breakfast and checkout. Then, start your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park, enjoying the stunning Great Rift Valley scenery, and arriving just in time for lunch. You'll explore Lake Nakuru National Park on game drives to see its populations of large mammals like rhino, buffalo, eland and rare Rothschild giraffe, as well as the park's glorious roster of birds like pelicans, fish eagles, Verreaux's eagles and Narina trogons. In the evening, you will go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5-6:Full Day in Maasai Mara
Highlights | Wildebeest Migration, Mara River, Crocodiles, Hippos
After breakfast, you will head out for a full-day safari game drive. [Optional: Take a hot air balloon ride over the reserve for your morning game drive. This is a fantastic way to see the animals up close.] On this day you will get to go up to the Mara River to see the crocodiles and hippopotamus. Along other parts of the river, you will see a variety of animals coming to get a drink of water.
During the drive, your guide will introduce you to the lifestyle and behaviours of each animal you see and answer any questions you have. This park offers designated areas where you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch right out in the open. After lunch, it is time to continue with the safari game drive. [Optional: Visit the Masai Village where you can discover the tribal culture and interact with local people. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.]
After the drive, you will return to your accommodation for a well-earned rest before enjoying another authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.
Day 7: Off to Lake Naivasha.
Highlights | Great Rift Valley, Giraffes, Boat Riding, Hippos
We think you'll love exploring Lake Naivasha, the highest (and one of the loveliest) of Kenya's Rift Valley lakes. Watch for hippos out on the lake and zebras and giraffes around the lakeshore. This afternoon you'll go on a boat trip on Lake Naivasha. It's a chance to enjoy a quiet moment or two and take in the pretty surroundings of this popular lake. Keep an eye out for hippos as you travel around. Crescent Island Safari, Lake Naivasha.
Day 8: Learn History on your last day of this epic Kenya safari
This morning, have breakfast check out of the resort and depart to Nairobi.
The journey back to Nairobi won't take long. The expected arrival time is mid-morning and this is the perfect opportunity to head to the Nairobi National Museum to learn the history of Kenya.
The Nairobi National Museum is older than Kenya itself! The idea of a museum in Kenya was born on March 25th, 1909, when ten individuals gathered to discuss forming a Natural History Society for East Africa. By 1910, the first museum building was constructed, housing fascinating natural history specimens. Over a century later, it remains a treasure trove of Kenya's rich heritage. A trip here will be the icing on the cake for an epic Kenya safari.
Later in the afternoon, head over to the hotel for lunch and later transfer to the airport and connect with your onward flight home.
